At Zhentian Temple in Maguang, Tuku, Taiwan, devotion to Su Fu Wang Ye has shaped the spiritual identity of the community for over a century. Sacred Radiance traces the layered movement of faith—from sacred authority to inner stillness—revealing how spiritual presence is experienced through light and space. The series opens with the golden-red image of Su Fu Wang Ye, where saturated warmth conveys divine centrality and authority. The lens then pauses at a “Quiet” sign within the temple—an architectural and psychological threshold that marks entry into sacred order. The narrative advances to the act of incense offering. Smoke drifts through shifting light as ritual gestures draw the sacred into lived experience. The interplay between cool blue and warm crimson-gold forms a sustained chromatic tension, reflecting a transition from reverence toward a human longing for protection and peace. Amulets and ceremonial flags further materialize belief into objects that are carried and inhabited in daily life. The sequence concludes with the serene blue presence of a Medicine Buddha figure. The cool luminosity gathers the visual narrative into a state of contemplative balance, suggesting that faith ultimately resolves not only in ritual or symbol, but in an interior sense of healing and calm. More than cultural documentation, the series examines how religion unfolds as an evolving landscape shaped by color, atmosphere, and human perception.
