This image shows the lesser seen symmetrical interior of the iconic HSBC Main Building in Hong Kong designed by Lord Norman Foster 40 years ago, lit up by natural light reflected through its reflective sun scoop. It reveals the ground-breaking “inside-out” high-technology design, where structural cores and functional elements are pushed to the building's perimeters and steel skeletal exterior to allow deep plan overhanging office floors and to release an open atrium to foster unscripted communal connectivity, catalysed by its network of bridges, escalators and elevators.
