It was a typical rush hour at Shinjuku Station. Behind her, thousands of suits and briefcases dissolved into blurred streaks of light, resembling a turbulent river carrying the city's noise and anxiety downstream. The roar of arriving trains, the rhythmic clicking of leather shoes on the platform, and the persistent chime of electronic alerts wove together into a symphony of sensory overload. But in this rift of fast-forwarded time, she suddenly came to a halt. Lin Xiaowei looked into the lens. Her eyes held neither exhaustion nor panic, but a transparency that bordered on a hollow void. Just minutes ago, she had stepped out of her office after overtime; her bag was heavy with contracts, and her phone buzzed with meaningless social notifications. Yet, as the massive tide of humanity pushed her toward the edge of the platform, the world went silent. It wasn’t a literal silence, but a profound "disconnection" from the world around her. Everyone rushing past had a destination—a hug waiting at home, a dinner reservation, or a weary dream to catch. Only she felt like an orphaned planet, standing still in a universe moving at light speed. She didn’t check the signs or her watch. She simply stood there, letting the motion blur carve her silhouette out from the crowd. In this long trek called "life," she decided, for the first time, not to hurry. Instead, she chose to lock eyes with the quiet version of herself hidden deep within. Those brief seconds were the only "jetlag" she truly owned in this concrete jungle—a moment belonging entirely to her.
