Kelly William Wright Portrait of a Seer From The Atavus Project The Atavus Project explores the feminine figure as an archetypal presence within the sub-tropical terrain, engaging the landscape through ritualized gesture, trance, and preparation. Set in cypress wetlands, woodland clearings and natural springs, the work draws from mythic traditions and early pictorialist photography to explore altered states of perception and humanity’s estranged relationship with the living earth. Nudity functions symbolically, removing social identity and positioning the body as a receptive instrument—vulnerable, attentive, and in dialogue with the environment.
