Taken near dawn just outside of Guilin, China, these fishermen have trained their Cormorant birds to do the fishing for them. They dive into the water to catch the fish; then they come back up, and the fishermen squeeze the fish out of the neck of the birds and onto the deck of their small boats (they put a band around the bottom of each bird's neck so they can't swallow the fish during this rather cruel process, one that been practiced for over 1,300 years).
