In this portrait of Jeremy I respond to historic, costumed representations of 'authentic' gender, and question what determines identity and sexuality? In the process of transitioning Jeremy celebrates the construction of his re-versioned female self, defying the constriction of the corsetry to assert an entirely individual womanhood. He is challenging traditional classification, in demanding that his heart's desire-to become female- be seen to be as natural as the clouds. In February this portrait's obsolescence will be complete, when Jeremy herself is complete.
