Behind my house is a Natural Reserve with a nice marsh. I've been going to this marsh regularly for more than 25 years. It is a site of respite for me, especially when the weather is humid, and nobody is around. I particularly love the foggy mornings when the ambiance is mysterious and relaxing. This series of photographs was made in Fall, after most birds had migrated south. It was early and the light going through the fog was incredibly unique. It was like having sunlight illuminating the marsh and plants, while having the fog thick enough to isolate backgrounds. The colors were emphasized by the humidity. There was no wind and no waves on the marsh. Despite going there weekly for a quarter of a century, it was unique. It was the first time I saw this marsh with such colors and light. I felt blessed and very peaceful in such wonderful natural scenes.
