Bagan, known as the "City of Ten Thousand Pagodas", is located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, winding through the central plains of Myanmar. Bagan, which possesses a large number of temples, pagodas, ashrams, pilgrimage sites, as well as murals and sculptures, is a holy place to appreciate Buddhist architecture. This heritage site showcases Bagan civilization from 11th to 13th century, when Bagan was the capital of a regional kingdom, and the historic sites reflect the religious fervor of this Buddhist country.
