A Doll Essence

Concept : To highlight the least represented aspect of a woman: adolescence The starting point: a doll is either a baby or a woman and there is an in-between time, a very particular moment in a woman’s life when she is not quite a child nor quite a woman. A moment when a war rages between the past and the future. A moment when she is both in construction today of what she will be tomorrow. The play on words is thus put forward: a teenage doll, « a doll essence ». Mood : Soft color rendering, skin with a doll-like texture; smooth. Light strong enough for the plastic side and toy look. Pastel pink tones on the model and contrasting bright tones around the box. Add accessories symbolizing adolescence inside the box and outside the box. Preparation: Preparation is a key element in the development of an artistic project. It is important to think about the types of tools you want to put in place such as props and clothing. We had to think about finding a cardboard container big enough to put the teenager in. A hot water balloon mishap in the misfortune of it all made it possible to get the new balloon packaging. Then my wife cut the cardboard to look like a doll box. We then went to a hardware store to find some green wallpaper to cover the whole thing, our box was ready. We then carefully prepared each outfit and accessory. 2 to 4 weeks of post-production were necessary, every detail was not left to chance.
