On silent paws under the summer sun

Slowly but with sure steps, driven by his pure curiosity, this male young arctic fox crept closer and closer to me through the shining blades of grass of the vast golden tundra to get a better look at me. This image is part of my latest and still ongoing photo series "Eye to eye with arctic foxes" and is taken amidst the harsh Arctic environment of the beautifully unique Svalbard archipelago. The viewer is to be accompanied eye to eye with the arctic foxes through a year in their habitat. In all pictures of this project the constancy of their curiosity is repeatedly complemented by the changes in their outward appearance as well as in their environment in the rhythm of the seasons.
