After snowfall and heavy night frost with fog, the landscape turned almost uniformly white. I went into my large garden with my 200-500 telephoto lens to see if I could get some nice shots of birds. For a long time I had an image in my head that I wanted to realize. It was freezing cold and to be flexible I took the pictures freehand. Then I saw the beautiful starling sitting on a single branch of an ironwood tree. Apparently he was looking for food on the ground. With the white background of the fog and the frozen branches, it was the perfect subject. It was exactly the picture I had wanted to take for a long time.
