Cubs faithfully follow their mother and obey her even when they seem naughty. In return, she protects them in any situation, fights with the most vigorous males to protect the little ones, is patient with them, and puts up with all the moments when she wants to rest and they want to play. They stay together for about two years, but the most significant sacrifice is right before she gives birth - when the bay freezes and all the bears go hunting, the mothers have to stay in the den and wait for the arrival of the little ones.
