In photography, meaning in a single instant, only a human face can tell a long and complex story. A human imploring a god for help to stand the powerful shocks of living. A sudden disease, a lost love, a failed dream, a paralyzing fear, a consuming fight with other humans. The intimate reality of the prayer is unknown, in this case. It could be any of the above, more than one of them, or another universal storm of human life. But the story in his eyes is powerful and real. The place is the Sicilian city of Catania, during the volcanic and visceral, leviathan and ferocious feast of the city's matron saint, Agata. But it could be anywhere in the world.
