FIshermen's Monument, located in Site de la Côte (Magdalen Islands, Quebec, Canada), is a tribute to the proud, joyful, and energetic men who carry out the arduous work of fishing. Made by the famous Canadian sculptor Roger Langevin, this large concrete monument is an emblem of Magdalen Islands. Larger than real-life, these fishermen have been photographed thousands of times and seen from various angles on the web. However, none of them avoids the numerous distracting elements around the monument and the concrete of the sculpture is always obvious. For this photograph, I placed my camera on the ground to exclude all distracting background elements. I also used the sun to create silhouettes. Having no clue about the presence of concrete, no spatial nor temporal reference, I aimed at creating an illusion of real fishermen.
