The One I Know

The project aims to demonstrate how images reflect the subconscious and discuss the relationship between memory, dreams and photography. This project uses photography as a medium to capture the image in the photographer's dream and present the non-existent image as a "real image". This includes constructing and filming dream scenes in the real world. It is the process of the photographer getting to know himself. Dreams are usually related to our subconscious mind, maybe hindered by our past experiences. In order to complete the photography project, the photographer takes on a journey to search his own memory or something that might not even exist. This photo is not just a photo, it not only allows the audience to intuitively see the scenes of dream of the photographer, but also explores the relationship between dream and reality. All the elements in the photo come from my dreams, it is absurd, anachronistic, definitely unreal yet absolutely truthful. When viewers see this photo, they may doubt the authenticity of the photo and think that the photo is a post-production/AI generated image. But in fact, the appearance of the photos is real. At that time and place, those elements and objects really appeared in front of the camera and were photographed and recorded. (Film negatives and documentaries will be used to prove the authenticity of the photos.) This conflict is just like our dreams. When we are dreaming, even if the dream is absurd and the content is misplaced, we will still feel real and will not doubt the authenticity of the dream. But after waking up, we may feel that the dream is ridiculous and unreal. What would it be like if people saw dreams while awake? This photograph will serve as a medium to explore dreams and reality, the real and the unreal.
