In the 18th and 19th century millions of European Immigrants hoped for a better existence in the “New World” of the USA. On Ellis Island the new arrivals queued in the immigration hall to get registered. “The warden” shows a guard waiting for tourists and whose uniform would also have suited the officials well, who had to ensure peace and order 200 years ago.
