Free space

A warm summer's day in Berlin came to an end in August 2021. My daughter and I were on our way home when we entered the underground station "Anhalter Bahnhof" shortly after 8 pm. But contrary to expectations, the station was deserted. There was no train to be seen and no announcement to be heard – silence and stillness made us pay attention. Experiencing this place in this way was a moment for us that felt like a newly experienced "free space". This spontaneously inspired my daughter to do a little happy dance, which I captured in a snapshot. For me, the photo is a powerful symbol of my own imaginary, protected inner space that I give myself. Here I am free from external influences, can reflect within myself, move freely in my thoughts and come to new realisations.
