There I Found Myself Waiting

This image is from a new ongoing portrait series entitled "And So We Begin Again", made while on residency in Sardinia, Italy this year. Having lost two important people on my life this Spring, I had been working on understanding and interpreting that grief through both my image making as well as my writing. This project is an evolution of that work, an antidote to the introspection and anguish that I was feeling. In this new work I have begun to look outside of myself again and reconnect with and find joy in, the beauty of the world around us. When the world offers us these moments of awe and joy, it is impossible to ignore. it demands our attention, drawing us outside of ourselves, and if only for a moment, we are healed, finding reconnection and meaning that allows us to once again, begin.
