"Quiet as a Fish" is a conceptual exploration of self-censorship, isolation, and the silent conflict between yearning for connection and the fear of change. The series traces an internal journey—beginning with a dream of escape, moving through hesitation and realization, only to end in surrender to silence. Using surreal imagery and synthetic figures as metaphors for human fragility, the work examines how self-imposed boundaries become both a refuge and a prison. The final image is not an escape, but a resignation—a quiet retreat into the safety of the known. 1️⃣ Frozen Desire (It all starts with a dream...) Wanting, but unable to act. Like a porcelain cat staring at an unreachable prize, longing for something real—yet remaining motionless, paralyzed by hesitation. Even in dreams, the yearning never fades. This is where it begins: the quiet desire for something beyond. 2️⃣ Under the Surface (Drifting deeper into the illusion...) Drifting further away, floating between reality and isolation. Trapped beneath the surface, separated from the world by a fragile barrier—longing for connection, yet fearing what lies beyond. 3️⃣ Disconnected (The silence takes over…) A chance to break the silence. Instead of answering, hesitation lingers. A rejection of the outside world, or just another moment of uncertainty, silencing the connection? 4️⃣ Eye to Eye (A moment of truth…) Holding the weight of silence, face to face with what has kept everything voiceless, caught between the pull of change and the comfort of the known. A moment of decision—or another pause before turning away? 5️⃣ The Magic Triangle (Resistance is futile...) A moment of recognition. A triangle—an ancient symbol of cycles, choices, and inevitability. Birth, life, and death. Action, hesitation, and surrender. Standing at the intersection, knowing that resisting change will only lead back to the beginning. 6️⃣ The Silent Horizons (The final surrender...) Everything fades. The darkness lifts, revealing a blinding white void. No more struggle, no more hesitation. The fish covering the eyes—a final act of submission. The contrast of light and dark speaks to the finality of this choice—silence is embraced.
