The Breath of Creation

The Breath of Creation captures the raw power and majesty of volcanic landscapes, portrayed here as both destructive and creative forces, shaping the earth's surface with intense heat and molten lava. The series takes viewers on a journey to various volcanic sites around the world, including the 2021 Iceland Volcano Eruption at Fagradalsfjall volcano, the 2022 Fuego Volcano in Guatemala, and Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii. When photographing in Iceland, I was struck by the contrast between fire and ice. I've captured moments where molten lava flows into glaciers, creating steaming plumes of vapor that rise into the air. The juxtaposition of these two elemental forces is both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. The glacial ice, with its intricate textures and frozen forms, provides a striking backdrop for the volcanic activity. I'm drawn to the primal forces that shape our planet, from the slow, grinding movement of glaciers to the explosive power of volcanic eruptions. My photographs are a testament to the beauty and power of these forces, and I hope they inspire viewers to contemplate their own place within the natural world.
