They say children can see fairies— that there’s a narrow window, before the world explains too much, when we see clearly with our souls. In that brief time, children seem to speak with animals in a language we forget as we grow. No words. No rules. Just recognition. From the misty hills of Bosnia to the carved wooden homes of Bhutan, from the windswept highlands of Peru to the maze-like alleys of Zanzibar, and the sun-warmed coffee farms of Costa Rica, I followed this quiet, instinctive connection between children and cats— fragile, tender, and pure. These images are not about pets or places. They are about a moment that slips away before we realize it’s gone. So I began to photograph what I feared might vanish altogether. Not to hold on—just to remember. Each time, I felt joy—and a quiet ache. A longing for something lost.
