I created Reverence to explore how power can exist without spectacle. Rather than capturing motion at its peak, I waited for the moment just before and just after—when the body folds inward and energy turns contemplative. The horse lowers his head and lifts a foreleg, forming a posture that feels intentional, almost ceremonial. It is a gesture that seemed less performance and more of an offering. The floral elements woven into the mane introduce a contrast between strength and fragility. Flowers are temporary by nature, while the horse’s body carries a sense of permanence and mass. Placing them together was deliberate: I wanted to suggest that reverence is not weakness, but an acknowledgment of vulnerability held within power. The adornment does not decorate the horse so much as it slows the viewer, asking them to look more closely at texture, line, and form. I kept the palette restrained and earthy, drawing from tones of soil, dust, and burnished light. By minimizing environmental detail, the emphasis remains on gesture and silhouette. The background recedes, allowing the curve of the neck, the tension in the lifted leg, and the softness of expression to define the composition. The. composition was refined to reduce distraction and focus attention on posture as language. This image is not about dominance or display. It is about presence—about the dignity found in stillness and the gravity of a moment that feels both intimate and universal. Reverence asks the viewer to slow down and consider how strength can be expressed through restraint.
