A skateboarder launches above the lip of a beachside skatepark, body twisted, arms spread wide, suspended against a sky so white it feels infinite. A few meters away, a woman sits on the edge of the concrete, lost in her phone, entirely unaware of the feat unfolding beside her. She isn't ignoring him — she simply isn't looking. And he isn't looking for her. This is not a performance. There is no crowd, no camera he's playing to, no outstretched arms waiting for applause. This is a body in motion for the pure private pleasure of motion itself — a trick executed for the feeling of executing it, witnessed only by accident. Shot in black and white with the sky consuming most of the frame, the image strips the moment down to its essentials: one person flying, one person still, and the vast indifferent space between them. The photograph asks whether a feat unwitnessed is any less extraordinary, and answers quietly that it might be more so.
