“…and the sunlights hurts my eyes” could have been the motto of this male Green-barred Woodpecker. My imagination aside, Woodpeckers fulfill a very important role in the ecosystem. Through digging their nesting holes in old trees, they not only take care of their own survival, but create refuges for other species like birds, small mammals and insects.
