I'm Marcus Fox, a photographer drawn to the spaces and stories that most people overlook. My work lives at the intersection of forgotten places, queer identity, and unfiltered human expression — whether I’m shooting abandoned psychiatric hospitals in upstate New York or documenting the joy and protest of Pride events. I focus on the details that linger: rusted stairwells, dust-covered coffee cups, moments of quiet connection between strangers. My background in storytelling and love of subcultures drives me to capture scenes that feel both personal and universal — the kind that make you pause, lean in, and ask what happened just before or just after the shutter clicked. A lot of my work centers around urban exploration and grassroots activism. I’m especially interested in how spaces — both physical and emotional — hold memory. Whether it’s a derelict hospital or a crowded parade street, I try to shoot with honesty, empathy, and a healthy respect for the ghosts. People often describe my images as cinematic, moody, or immersive. I like that. I aim to photograph not just what’s in front of me, but what it feels like to stand there — the smell of peeling paint, the warmth of sunlight hitting bricks, the weight of protest chants echoing down a city block. When I’m not shooting, I’m usually scouting new locations with my dog, editing with music too loud, or hauling gear somewhere I probably shouldn’t be. I care deeply about ethical storytelling, gaining access respectfully when possible — and when not, always treating the history and the people connected to it with care. Photography is how I process the world. It’s how I connect, how I listen. Through my lens, I’m always chasing a story worth remembering — and inviting others to see it, too.
