I was born and raised in Spain, finished high school in Mexico, and then received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts. I have been taking photographs since the age of 16. For many years I have been fascinated by the reflective and refractive imagery produced on the surface of and under water. Freezing moments in time on or in this rippling, flowing medium, paired with sunlight and wind, often reveals delicate and sometimes complex organic, fluid patterns and shapes, uniquely characterised by the ever changing motion of water. I have also developed a technique where multiple images, taken from various angles and distances, are merged, resulting in compositions that become fragmented, multifaceted, abstract expressions of the original subject matter. I call this style Fusion Photography. I am mostly inspired by imagery that alters structure, form, and color, and blurs the lines between reality and abstraction.
