Photographer's Profile
Japan
Yoshiyuki Ito is a photographer based on Sado Island, Niigata, and serves as the 6th-generation proprietor of "Goen-no-yado Itouya," a Japanese inn with a history spanning back to 1878. While managing his family’s heritage, he also applies his skills as a chef and web creator, allowing him to approach visual storytelling with a disciplined and multifaceted perspective. His photographic work is deeply rooted in Sado, an island rich in nature and ancient traditions. Rather than seeking dramatic spectacle, Ito focuses on capturing the quiet, authentic essence of his homeland—the delicate light, the breath of the landscape, and the subtle "Goen" (serendipitous connections) that define the local life. Through his lens, he seeks to preserve the harmony between human spirit and nature. By sharing these intimate glimpses of Sado with the world, he hopes to bridge the gap between his local heritage and a global audience, inviting viewers to find beauty in the quiet continuity of time.
