I have been obsessed with moving images since I was a child. I was given the special edition of the Star Wars trilogy on VHS, beginning my fascination with film. My love of cinema eventually turned into an early career as a cameraman and video editor. After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Film Studies at the University of London, Queen Mary, I went on to complete a Master of Fine Arts in Film from the Newport Film School where I shot my thesis film on Kodak 16mm B&W film. Like many, I started out as a runner before working as a camera assistant and eventually as a Director of Photography / Cameraman. After buying a second hand Canon 550D at the end of 2018, I spent the first three months of 2019 travelling around Southeast Asia photographing my adventure... and something clicked. Photography unearthed an excitement and zest for creativity I hadn't felt for some time. It helped me discover a fascination with landscape and architecture, and how humans live and behave in various surroundings and environments. On Monday 23 March 2020 Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the UK would be going into what would be the first of three national lockdowns due to the ongoing threat of the global COVID-19 pandemic. A week before the announcement I began my most ambitious project to date - developing a Photographic Journal of Life in London During the Coronavirus Pandemic. A documentation of the everyday. How did the pandemic change life in a major metropolis? How did Londoners’ behaviour change, how was it disrupted, and in what ways did it remain the same? The aim of this project is to not only document for historical purposes, but also to convey the emotions and memories of living in one of the busiest and most visited cities in the world during a global pandemic. I am based in LONDON. My greatest achievement is my dog, MR BEAR.
