Sanctuary

After a 4 hour drive through the Slovenian countryside, across the edge of Austria and finally into the dolomites, I managed to snap this photo of ‘Chiesa Di Santa Maddalena’ This was one of those moments where all of a sudden landscape photography makes sense, it’s not about the photo you take, if anything the photo is just a frame from your memory. The truth is, landscape photography is about being in the moment and capturing something you feel is special. This place, this church at the base of the dolomite mountain range was special. The fresh smell of crisp air and grass, an incredible sunrise and being somewhere so peaceful with my lovely wife. That’s what this photo will always remind me of, I hope every landscape photographer out there feels the same with their own work because every time I look at this photo, I’m back in the dolomites again.
