Gary Ng

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Gary is an architecture photographer whose work explores the relationship between lines, light and life. Through a refined geometric visual language, he captures the emotional and spatial poetry of the modern city. In 2025, he became the first Hong Kong photographer to win at Architecture Photography Awards, taking first place in “Urban Landscapes/Cityscapes” with “Hong Kong in the Veil” which captures skyscrapers piercing through thick sea fog at Victoria Harbour, backlit by a rare crimson sunset, and a junk boat silhouette; and first place in “Light & Shadow” with “Concrete Memento” where light goes through brutalist openings of Uji Station, spotlighting a passerby on a staircase. He is also the first Hong Kong photographer given the top honour of “Photographer of the Year” at the Architecture Photography MasterPrize 2025, winning in three categories; and received “Category Winner of the Year” in Architecture Photography at the New York Photography Awards 2025, earning six awards in total. In recognition of his contributions to architecture and design, he was selected as one of the “40 Under 40” by Perspective Global in 2025. His images were featured in Vogue, Tatler, Esquire, MingPaoWeekly etc., and he had shared his photography philosophy on RTHK and Commercial Radio HK. His first photography exhibition was held inside HSBC Main Building with HSBC in April 2026 to celebrate the building’s 40th birthday, and was attended by its legendary architect Lord Norman Foster.
